Population Dynamics
The Population Dynamics school of thought believes that the longwave is
caused by fluctuations in the rate of growth of the population. This uneven
rate of growth in population is directly reflected both in the rate of growth
of the workforce and in the rate of growth of
church membership. It should
be noted that the statistics shown here is church membership and not church
attendance, the difference being that church membership is recorded
once on becoming a member of a church, while church attendance is recorded
weekly and may vary more substantially, depending on many factors. Both
diagrams show very similar graphs, except that the turning points in church
membership occur earlier than in labour statistics. The reason being that
church membership begins at the age of 13, while entry into the workforce
occur a little later in life.
